With the second volume of The Book of Skin, explorations and narratives around my history with psoriasis continue as I pursue the chronological account of my life with psoriasis. My skin improves when I draw in the book, and improvements halt when I stop. There’s a direct correlation between drawing and healing, which I never expected.

The following part is about the time I got treated through sun therapy. The healing UVs are represented as the Sun God. The visual reference to Kephri, sun god of ancient Egypt, as well as other representations of ancient Egypt are explored in this story. I find it fascinating how it is easy to relate to drawings created thousands of years ago. “Psoriasis is one of the oldest known conditions in medical history” according to the article Psoriasis as old as mankind: A Review and skin conditions and their treatments are described in ancient Egyptian papyri.
