(2020) I start exploring the idea of lineage, ancestry, transmission in relation to my skin. The condition is hereditary, we get it from our elders. I will never know the stories of when the psoriasis started but if it is passed on to me up to this point, there may be something to heal in the past.

I set an intention: to explore the roots, and I draw a mandala which I then set out to translate into clay. I enjoy making the different components, but for many years the clay mandala remains incomplete.

(2023) I complete the mandala and add colours. Because time has passed, it takes on fresh meaning as well. I see it as a playful object, capable to reinvent itself and offering many possibilities for display. I think of my daughter and choose bright colours. She helps me create the final composition that will be exhibited as part of the duo solo From a home in the hills at Galleryske in Delhi in December 2023.

(2022) As part of the residency As above, So below, I paint a narrative mandala addressing generational transmission of fear and anger, and the counter-balancing transmission of power and resilience.

Grandmothers, mothers, daughters (Transmission)

(2023) A drawing on transmission from a series of drawing exploring birth and the postpartum depression (ink on paper)

(2024) A triptych about generations and transmission. The background of each drawing has been grated with colour on a cheese grater.
