olop (part 2), the idea of a mythology

Gradually, I become aware that what I am trying to do with the Skin Project is vast and all-encompassing. The idea of skin is far-reaching. Manifesting the Skin Goddess is not enough, I want to invent rituals and myths.

In Our Lady of Psoriasis, I write:

Because Olop is primarily a visual investigation, I have little language to apprehend her. Language around Olop could be more easily accessed through poetry. Using a prompt by Joseph Fasano, I wrote the following poem for her

(2022) The idea of creating a mythology, rituals, shrines, is very present in my practice but takes the form of intentions rather than creations or manifestations.

(2023) During a mentorship, Apurva drafts a myth of the origins of the Skin Goddess. I adapt his version into a visual story.

In 2024, I also revisit and multiply indefinitely the imagery of the devotees.
